- I bought a Pivot/LE (including a NuBus) card from a local computer retailer
- (Computer Age, suburban Maryland) for $799. I've had it connected to my IIcx for
- about two weeks.
-
- Impressions:
-
- 1) Very sharp and clear display. I was surprised how sharp it was even
- at the edges. In my office, we have the older B&W Pivot displays and
- they are somewhat blurry on the outer edges.
-
- 2) Very solidly built. The case looks identical to the older B&W pivot
- displays.
-
- 3) Speedometer graphics ratings are the same or better than my Apple
- portrait display, about 1.36 at all depths.
-
- 4) I Love having color!
-
- Compared to the regular Color Pivot:
-
- 1) The Pivot LE is 832x624 @ 78 dpi. (Same as the Apple 16" monitor)
- The original Color pivot has two resolutions. (I'm going from memory
- here). 640x480 @ 72 dpi, and 870x640 @ 82 dpi.
-
- 2) The Pivot LE REQUIRES a color Pivot board. This $599 board is
- currently bundled with the LE...FOR FREE!
-
- The original Color pivot can work with the builtin video of a ci,
- si or quadra. Radius supplies a "Soft Pivot" init to handle the
- pivot action. The Color Pivot can also use the same board as the LE.
- (Less drain on the host cpu).
-
- 3) The Pivot LE is $500 less than the original color pivot. The
- difference primarilly due to the lack of multiple resolution hardware.
-
-
- In short, with the bundled interface board, this monitor is a Great deal!
