- More specifically, you can sometimes get a disk to spin up by
- giving the cabinet a sharp spin in the plane of the disk. That is,
- if the cabinet is the usual zero-footprint type which fits under
- a compact mac, set it on a piece of paper on a tabletop and spin
- it. There was a thread about this a while ago, and there didn't
- appear to be a consensus over whether this should be done while
- the disk is powered up or not. I'd try it turned off first.
-
- Another likely cause of your problem is a bad connector contact. Open
- the case and try unplugging and replugging the connectors from the
- power supply to the drive mechanism. My brother had this problem
- and spent a lot of time spinning the cabinet fruitlessly before he
- found it.
