- I have a cool 386/25 notebook with a fax modem. I travel lots. I am very
- keen on email. 1) Is there a list of phone numbers in the USA, Europe,
- Australia or the world where I could call up and get a telnet prompt? I'm
- sure the must be some other way for me to access my email account while
- travelling besides a long-distance call to Stanford. In Germany this
- would be particularly helpful.
-
- 2) Any tips from travelers about using a fax or modem abroad? If I set it
- on pulse, will it always work? Do all telephones use just two wires, and
- if I just rip apart my modular phone plug and jam the wires randomly into
- forign wall sockets will it work....or is there a better way??
-
- Thank you if you can help. I can barely read news let alone anonymous
- ftp, so anything you SEND to me at chetter@leland.stanford.edu will be
- most appreciated...info or software or whatever.
