  24. I don't believe that EMM386.SYS will load without something telling it to.
  25. You may be a bit confused with the DR-DOS boot process when SSTOR is used:
  26. If the entire hard drive is compressed, a small partition is saved which
  27. holds the boot information since it can't decompress files on the SSTOR
  28. drive until the driver is loaded.  Normally, the boot drive is drive C:,
  29. but DEVSWAP.COM is loaded to make it drive D: and the SSTOR drive C:.
  30. Furthermore, DR-DOS looks for DCONFIG.SYS before looking for CONFIG.SYS.
  31. The last line in the standard DCONFIG.SYS is a command to chain to the
  32. user's CONFIG.SYS.

  34. In short, check for DCONFIG.SYS on drives that you don't think you have,
  35. such as D:, E:, or F:.
