- I read an article a couple of months ago in either PC Mag or Computer
- Shopper saying that OPTI was developing an inexpensive two-chip
- EISA chip set. This chip set would bring down the cost premium of
- EISA over ISA to around $80 from the current $300+ with the Intel
- chip set.
-
- The article said these would be out in the fall. So I was wondering
- if anyone has heard anything (rumors or fact) on when we actually
- might see motherboards with this chip set?
-
- I wanted more than ISA, but I have been holding off buying anything
- because Local bus is still immature, and EISA has been too expensive.
- Now I am getting impatient, but I don't want to spend too much for
- EISA if these really will be out soon. (Besides, it might increase
- the popularity of EISA, and help bring down the cost of EISA peripheral
- cards, although not overnight.)
-
- Thanks,
