  12. I am considering buying one of the new Gateway 2000 66 MHz (DX2) systems,
  13. but I have several questions.

  15. Is Intel shipping 486Dx2 66 MHz chips in quantity yet?  If not, how soon
  16. might that happen? Gateway says that they are wating for a shipment and
  17. give a 5-6 week lead time on delivery.

  19. What kind of time frame are we looking at for 16 Mb RAM chips to be shipping
  20. in quantity?  The system comes with some new Micronics (sp?) motherboard with
  21. 4 SIMM slots.  You begin with 4Mx9 and can mix in 16Mx9.  But until the 16Mx9
  22. SIMMS are available, you can't go above 16 Mb on the motherboard.

  24. The system is to include a Western Digital 340 Mb disk (I don't have the
  25. model number) that is supposed to be a brand-spanking new model that works
  26. on the local bus of the system.  How might this affect UNIX (actually, a
  27. GNU version called Linux) compatibility ? (drivers, etc)

  29. The salesmen said that the system would come with a video card called the
  30. ATI New Generation card.  Is this an ATI Ultra+ that I have been hearing about?
  31. It is also supposed to be on the local bus.
