- I own an AMI FastDisk EISA SCSI caching controller. I run a Micropolis
- 1684-7 HD and an APS/ Archive Python DAT tape drive on my SCSI bus now
- without a problem. You had previously had to use the int13 drivers with this
- controller under OS/2, with a performance hit, but with their latest ROM you
- will be able to use the Adaptec drivers. I'm waiting on the new ROM's now
- which are shipping.
- The technical support I've received from AMI has been superb. I do know that
- everyone will not agree with this. I base my assessment on the fact that AMI
- has continually sent me the new versions of their ROM's for the FastDisk and
- allowed me to download the latest versions of their EISA configuration
- utility from their BBS as they are released. They troubleshot a problem with
- a hard drive I had been using, after I sent the drive to them, to be a
- conflict due to the surface mounted firmware (in a Seagate 296N) and are
- arranging for Seagate to send me a brand new drive with new firmware which
- will work with their adapter at no expense to me.
- Needless to say, I've never experienced this level of service from any
- company yet. I'm also shocked that Seagate is so accomodating as well.

- I've been happy with my Micropolis 1684-7 which stores 337 MB, on the low
- side of your needs. I don't have experience with other SCSI drives other
- than the older Seagate mentioned above.
