- I have a 386DX-40 running an AMI-BIOS dated 5/91. I have the following
- periperals using the following interrupts:
- (Note: PAS16 is the ProAudioSoundcard)
-
- 0 - system timer 8
- 1 - keyboard 9
- 2 - access to high IRQ 10 one of these is used
- 3 - COM2/COM4 (used by my modem) 11 by my hard drive
- 4 - COM1/COM3 (used by my mouse) 12
- 5 - Soundblaster portion of PAS16 card 13 12, 13 or 14
- 6 - Diskette Drive 14
- 7 - Printer & PAS16 15
-
- I have purchased a scanner which can be configured to IRQ 3, 4, or 5.
- The soundblaster can be reconfigured to 3 (no help), or 7.
- The PAS16 can be reconfigured to 2, 3, 5, 7 or HIGH.
- ~
- I could get around the problem "easily" by putting the scanner on 5,
- the soundblaster on 7 and the PAS16 on an upper IRQ.
- BUT I lose DOS program support for the PAS16 by doing that.
-
- My question is - what happens if I put the PAS16 on IRQ 2? Does this
- mean I lose access to all the high IRQs? That would NOT be good since
- I need them for the hard drive.
-
- If I can use IRQ 2, I'd prefer that - other solutions would be having
- multiple CONFIG.SYS - one that allows scanning and the other that allows
- sounds.
-
- Email prefered UNLESS you think this is of more general interest. A lot of
- times I read a question, say ME TOO, but never see an answer because of
- email replies only. If you don't want to waste bandwidth and you've had
- a similar problem and would like to hear the responses I get - drop me an
- email and I will send you a summary directly. I'll also post a followup
- with responses as well.
-
- Thanks in advance
