  16. I have a 386DX-40 running an AMI-BIOS dated 5/91.  I have the following
  17. periperals using the following interrupts:
  18. (Note: PAS16 is the ProAudioSoundcard)
  19.  
  20.     0   - system timer                         8
  21.     1   - keyboard                             9
  22.     2   - access to high IRQ                  10  one of these is used
  23.     3   - COM2/COM4 (used by my modem)        11  by my hard drive
  24.     4   - COM1/COM3 (used by my mouse)        12
  25.     5   - Soundblaster portion of PAS16 card  13  12, 13 or 14
  26.     6   - Diskette Drive                      14
  27.     7   - Printer & PAS16                     15

  29. I have purchased a scanner which can be configured to IRQ 3, 4, or 5.
  30. The soundblaster can be reconfigured to 3 (no help), or 7.
  31. The PAS16 can be reconfigured to 2, 3, 5, 7 or HIGH.

  33. I could get around the problem "easily" by putting the scanner on 5,
  34. the soundblaster on 7 and the PAS16 on an upper IRQ.
  35. BUT I lose DOS program support for the PAS16 by doing that.

  37. My question is - what happens if I put the PAS16 on IRQ 2?  Does this
  38. mean I lose access to all the high IRQs?  That would NOT be good since
  39. I need them for the hard drive.

  41. If I can use IRQ 2, I'd prefer that - other solutions would be having
  42. multiple CONFIG.SYS - one that allows scanning and the other that allows
  43. sounds.

  45. Email prefered UNLESS you think this is of more general interest.  A lot of
  46. times I read a question, say ME TOO, but never see an answer because of
  47. email replies only.  If you don't want to waste bandwidth and you've had
  48. a similar problem and would like to hear the responses I get - drop me an

  50. with responses as well.
