  17. Maxtor reccomends the following:
  18. Cylinders:    1024
  19. Heads:        14
  20. Sectors/Track:17
  21. Write Precomp:1024 (NONE)
  22. Landing Zone: 1024

  24. The last two I have never needed to mess with; I believe the drive's
  25. on-board controller handles that automatically.
  26. Write Precompensation is the track at which your controller should
  27. begin compensating for "bit migration"... the phenomena of magnetic
  28. particles altering eachothers' position on the disk when placed
  29. close together.  This is common on the innermost tracks of the disk.
