- Some time ago, I posted a complaint about Microsoft mice.
- Specifically, my cursor did not follow the mouse motion
- smoothly. While moving the mouse smoothly to the left, for
- example, suddenly the cursor would jump half an inch to the
- left, and sometimes it would even jump to the right when I
- was moving left.
-
- I want to thank the dozens of people who sent me advice.
- Most of these people talked about configuration problems,
- but this was not my problem, because the people in my shop
- who have had this problem have been able to fix it by
- replacing the mice. I sent mine back to Microsoft, and
- they replaced it rather than fixing it.
-
- An anonymous informant inside Microsoft tells me that this
- is a widespread problem and that it seems to be related to
- the design or perhaps to the quality assurance of the
- product. People at MS who get "jerky mouse syndrome" just
- replace them---and this is my advice to others with the same
- problem. If you can come up with a copy of the original
- invoice, MS will honor their lifetime guarantee.
