  17. For the benefit of others who wish to make a 3B2 Console Eliminator,
  18. here is what you do.  All you need is an 8-conductor modular plug,
  19. 1" of copper phone wire (like the kind in 25-pair cables) and a plug
  20. crimper.  Bend the wire U-shaped and put it in the plug so it jumps
  21. terminal 4 and 6 and crimp it in place:

  37. Looking head-on at the plug, with the plastic clip at the bottom,
  38. jump it as shown with the wire.

  40. This was "invented" for us by AT&T's CPSC division, so using it
  41. does not void your service contract! :-)

  43. The machine can now boot off the crontab, "print" the date hourly,
  44. give you the backup reminder, etc., but of course you don't see it
  45. because there's no console.
