  19. ^$5000???  Where are you looking at Mac laptops?  The top of the line Mac
  20. notebook, the PB170, costs under $3500 and you can get a PB145 for under 
  21. $2000.  Since the ST Book is still not available anywhere but in Europe,
  22. that's not really an option (besides, Spectre GCR won't run on the ST Book
  23. yet).  However, you *CAN* find Stacy portables for under $1500 that the
  24. Spectre GCR will run on, although it's a little less portable with the 
  25. big Spectre GCR cartridge in it.  So if you're friend doesn't mind that
  26. and doesn't mind having a machine that only lasts 15-20 minutes on a 
  27. battery charge (actually, there's a new 2 hour battery for the Stacy
  28. which costs around $75), then the Stacy/Spectre GCR *IS* an option.  It's
  29. not really a 'laptop' mind you, but it *IS* portable.  Personally, I like
  30. the Stacy a lot since I would only need a portable computer and would
  31. never be using the battery.  The ST Book notebooks, which are currently
  32. under some redesigning, should be available by early '93 in the rest of 
  33. the world, though there's still no word on a Spectre GCR adaptor for it
  34. or even a specially-designed Spectre GCR for the ST Book.
