- ^$5000??? Where are you looking at Mac laptops? The top of the line Mac
- notebook, the PB170, costs under $3500 and you can get a PB145 for under
- $2000. Since the ST Book is still not available anywhere but in Europe,
- that's not really an option (besides, Spectre GCR won't run on the ST Book
- yet). However, you *CAN* find Stacy portables for under $1500 that the
- Spectre GCR will run on, although it's a little less portable with the
- big Spectre GCR cartridge in it. So if you're friend doesn't mind that
- and doesn't mind having a machine that only lasts 15-20 minutes on a
- battery charge (actually, there's a new 2 hour battery for the Stacy
- which costs around $75), then the Stacy/Spectre GCR *IS* an option. It's
- not really a 'laptop' mind you, but it *IS* portable. Personally, I like
- the Stacy a lot since I would only need a portable computer and would
- never be using the battery. The ST Book notebooks, which are currently
- under some redesigning, should be available by early '93 in the rest of
- the world, though there's still no word on a Spectre GCR adaptor for it
- or even a specially-designed Spectre GCR for the ST Book.
