- Speaking of the Hermes connection, I used Umich's dial out modems to
- connect to a GEnie number local to Umich. It was the same, or similar
- setup, .25 per call. But there were big problems trying to configure
- the dialout modem for 8 bits rather than 7 bits. This made downloading
- files impossible. Compuserve offers Kermit, which to my knowledge would solve
- the problem, albeit for the price of HORRIBLY slow data throughput.
- CIS also has a node directly accessable by any MERIT/Michnet user.
- I believe it is "CIS" or "Compuserve" at the "HOST?" prompt. Have they
- had any problems with Hacker's attempting to break into users' accounts?
