- There's been a lot of speculation on the new AA Chipset and whether it would
- actually work on an A3000 computer. I, as a recent purchaser of an A3000,
- expect it to be available - in the current slots.
-
- Why? (you ask incredulously :). Well, some time ago, I was a brief intern
- at C= Westchester, and specifically asked about this (long before I purchased
- the A3000). At _that_ time, they were expecting it to fit in the A3000
- motherboard. They said that the Motherboard's chip socket had a 32-bit
- bandwidth, while the ECS still only used 16 (eg: they thought ahead).
-
- I believed this explanation, as the entire A3000 architecture is a 32-bit
- system (right down to the expansion bus). I still believe it (tho much of
- the talk here has begun to erode my Faith). Since that time, hardware
- problems may have rendered A3000 compatibility moot (ie: chips turned out too
- big). I hope not. I also hope C= will offer a real nice upgrade package to
- those of us still in the Gold Service warranty category (I've only had mine
- for 3 months!)
