  20. Buzz.  You lose.  Public Domain mean just that, in the public's domain.  No
  21. one has right to it any longer - even the coder.  The right's have been
  22. given to the public.  "Do with it as you like." Period.  Even sell it -- if
  23. people are dumb enough to pay for it.  That's their fault.  Just like ash
  24. from Mt.  Saint Helens.

  26. True, PD writers are a GREAT asset, but even they will tell you that PD
  27. means "all rights relinquished."

  29. "Freely distributable" material that is copy righted is what you are
  30. refering to.  They still retain rights, but distribute freely.  (Hmm, those
  31. phrases sure do describe what they mean, don't they.)  This is the best way
  32. to widely distribute but keep posession.

  34. Please, don't read this as being hostile to developers (heck, I do some
  35. myself), just a clarification of some over zealous thinking.  Maybe Public
  36. Domain/Shareware/Freely Dist./Copyright info should go into a FAQ file
  37. somewhere.
