- Lemme guess. GVP harddrive controller? GVP caused a few problems with
- serial transfers with their large transfer block size. There is a program
- called GVPPatch, which makes this "transfer block size" smaller (also a new
- version went out recently), and fixes the problem for some peoples system.

- If you are not running a GVP, i'd guess you are running a non-DMA
- controller. If so, then your basically out of luck unless you get a serial
- board (assuming A2000) or a new controller. Non-dma controllers are
- sometimes faster than DMA controllers (although not necessarily), and they
- get their speed by using your CPU to do the work. This of course affects
- your serial.device's transfers, as it also uses the CPU.
