- In a previous article, gonzalez@bbn.com (Jim Gonzalez) says:
- >Has anyone had experience with BOCA brand modems? I've seen their PC
- >internal modems for sale at local discount places. More recently, I've
- >noticed their standalone modems at street prices competitive with those
- >for Supra brand. My apologies if this has been discussed already; a
- >keyword search of the currently-available articles showed nothing.
-
- I just bought an external one after waiting for a month for my backorder to
- arrive. $320 Canadian, V.32/32bis/42/42bis/mnp5...and a class II group III
- 14.4 Kbps fax (Rockwell). It can go the 57.6 Kbps and also comes with a
- stand to stand it on it's side - it gets fairly hot, and I find that standing
- it on its side helps to dissipate the heat better.
-
- I wasn't too interested in the fax part, but for $320, that's cheaper than
- any other v32bis I've seen with or without faxes. The only problem is that
- the fax software that comes with it is ms-dos, so you'll need to buy some
- software to use the FAX.
-
- Haven't had any problems with it so far.
