- I agree. If users realize that this is the decision and that it's not
- an 'XPR limitation' then I have no problems. My personal problem is that
- quite a few very good Zmodem implementations exist, but I cannot use
- any of them. I'd likely be willing to pay half the JRComm registration
- fee for a very well written XPR Zmodem (Well, with options to do the
- additional features of ZedZap and DirectZap as used in Fidonet).
-
- At the moment (Well, starting tonight anyways ;-) I am running a
- slighly modified mixture of XPRZmodem 2.10 and 2.50 with the ZedZap
- enhancements (8K packets, recieve/send 0 files in batch mode) written
- by Yves Konigshofer, but I suspect that if time were put into it, a much
- more optimized version could be written.

-
- So would I, but the more people that have this belief that 'XPR is bad',
- then the less likely someone is going to actually spend the time to do it.
- There eithor has to be a 'market' for the product, or an extremely large
- personal desire 'for the betterment of all'. I'll bet that the for most
- things the 'Market' has to exist first.
-
- >Even programmers have to eat. Twinkies ain't cheap. I certainly can't
-
- This is exactly what I'm saying. Instead of chanting the "XPR's are
- bad" that 'certain' individuals want to insist on, lets encourage
- forward development. If 'totally integrated' packages are what people
- wanted, why pay the higher price of the Amiga when one can get these
- silly 'totally integrated' packages for the P.C. cheaper :-(
-
- >that. I'd also like to see an XPRPunter (but dream on), and a few other
-
- Why dream on? Why assume that it would never happen? If enough users
- wanted it and created a 'market', or a programmer wanted it for themselves,
- it could very easily happen.
