- Such a definition exists, and is available from Novell in exchange for some
- sum of money. It's part of their effort to get NetWare ported to every
- known operating system. I've heard of it being available in the company of
- C code that implements the protocol; perhaps it is also available separately.

- proprietary protocols with expensive licensing fees. That's the whole point
- of standard protocols -- jointly develop a mutually useful protocol, then
- let the world use it for little or no fees.

- Maybe the trick for the OSI standards would be to offer educational editions
- at a discount, direct from the ISO to the university bookstore. It's an
- established marketing technique in other industries, so why not international
- standards?
