- In response to my posting, I got a note from Adam Heath at Shiva,
- telling me that:
-
- > You need a patched version of K-STAR 9.1 - K-STAR 9.1p2.
-
- I found the patched version of K-Star on the SHIVA.COM fileserver, in
- the pub directory, downloaded it and its release notes, and installed
- it.
-
- Simply making the one configuration change suggested in the 9.1p2
- release notes... turning off the newly-defined Option 16 - didn't do the
- trick. However, after I fiddled around (and cussed) for a while, I
- ended up with a set of configuration options which work correctly: 5, 6,
- 7, 11, 12, 17, 19, 22, 28, 29 on, everything else off.
-
- With this version of K-Star, and with these options, both
- "hardware=MacTCP" and "hardware=appletalk" work correctly. I can even
- use "hardware=appletalk" on a Mac which is connected to the EtherNet -
- K-Star handles conversion between IP-DDP-in-EtherTalk-phase-II and
- IP-over-EtherNet without a hitch.
-
- Many thanks to Adam for identifying the problem and making the patched
- version of K-Star available!
-
- [Craig - you might want to check the mtu, maxseg, and rwin parameters
- in your config.tel file - I have a hunch that connections might hang if
- you're using an AppleTalk connection and these values are set to the
- EtherNet limits]
