- I am using cap under SunOS 4.1.2 to print on a Textronix Phaser III
- color laserwriter that is connected to AppleTalk via a fastpath gateway.
- The printer works fine when printing from Macs and all 'atlooklws' and
- 'lwpr' commands go smoothly for the other printers in the same zone.
- However, I get the following error from 'atlooklws' when checking on the
- Textronix Printer:
-
- "Confirm Failed, code = -1025..." instead of the usual
- "Adress confirmed for socket XXX".
-
- Some Tektronix printers generate goofy checksums on AppleTalk packets,
- and pitch any that have checksumming because they think the packets
- are bad. A recent upgrade to the fastpaths enables DDP checksumming.
- I don't have the version numbers of the fastpath stuff, but ask the
- maintainers of the fastpaths if he knows about this problem. Ping
- Tektronix about it. If you need more info, I'll ask our network folks.
-
- In other words, the Fastpath breaks the printer because the printer
- is goofy.
-
- Good luck.
