- The August 14, 1992 issue of Science magazine contains three good
- articles on the issue of patents and gene sequences. A while ago the
- NIH applied for patents on 2750 partial complementary DNA sequences,
- causing great concern in the biotech and patent communities.

- The articles are: "Genes, Patents and Product Development" by Rebecca
- Eisenberg (professor of law at the University of Michigan", "Genome
- Research: Fulfilling the Public's Expectations for Knowledge and
- COmmercialization" by Reid Adler (director of the office of technology
- transfer at the NIH), and "Patents on Random Complementary DNA Fragments"
- by Thomas Kiley (attorney and director for biotech companies).

- The articles are well written with lots of legal references. Well
- worth taking a look at.
