- I recently installed a NEC-84 CD-ROM drive on my machine, along with
- the NEC SCSI controller that comes with it by default. For what it's
- worth, I think that the controller is a repackaged Trantor T128.
-
- OS/2 does not seem to recongnize the existence of this controller. I
- tried the hack, mentioned in this newsgroup, of editing "TOSHIBA" to
- read "NEC " in CDROM.SYS, but to no avail.
-
- So, my question is: has anyone managed to make this controller work
- with OS/2 2.0. Failing that, what is the cheapest SCSI controller I
- can buy that does work with OS/2 2.0 and the NEC-84. (I'm hesitant
- about spending too much money on a SCSI controller before the market
- sorts itself out).
-
- Thanks,
- David
