- This is a horror story. Type n now if you don't like horror stories
-
- Installed IBMC, the toolkit and workframe 2 on disk c: without incident
- immediately after installing os2. Unfortunately for me, I didn't
- install the migration libraries. Everything that I describe below has
- happened as a result of my trying to install the migration libraries.
-
- 1. The C Set/2 install process reported that it was unable to write to
- the write-protected a: disk. Later it reported it couldn't find
- sectors or the (original, once-used) IBM disks.
-
- 2. I rebooted dos and diskcopied all 14 toolkit diskettes
-
- 3. I reinstalled the toolkit on disk d:; it deleted all my shadow help
- folders. I then tried to delete the new toolkit folder but could not
- because of a system problem. I tried putting the toolkit into a new
- folder and deleting that; no dice.
-
- 4. I tried to install to the d: disk the migration libraries only (no c
- compiler, debugger, documentation, etc). At the end of the install none
- of the migration libraries had been copied.
-
- 5. I then tried a complete install to the d: disk. Everything seemed
- to be going okay until I started getting error messages saying that backup
- files on the *c:* disk would be overwritten. I terminated the install.
-
- 6. I then deleted the entire ibmc directory on disk c: and reinstalled the
- *entire* Cset 2 fileset to the C disk. At the end of the install
- process I have 4 empty subdirectories and the sample04 source files copied
- over - nothing else.
-
- This install program clearly came from HELL via Boca Raton.
