- 1. Why won't my full-screen OS/2 session work? In 8514 mode, on an
- utterly uncustomized installation of OS/2, selected OS/2 FS just
- makes the mouse pointer dissapear. CTRL-ESC gives a window list
- showing the FS OS/2 session, and I can kill it, but the screen
- continues to display the desktop if I select it.
-
- 2. OS-2 has excellent crash protection, but I killed it good last
- night by shutting the machine off without shutting down. When
- I booted, I got "Extent not found--system stopped" and a message
- telling me to contact support. Instead, I re-installed OS/2.
-
- The reason I shut the machine off was to install another 2-8mb
- memory expansion card on the system for a total of 20mb (of which
- only 15,872k is usable for some reason). Could adding memory cause
- OS/2 to crap out? Perhaps by making it think the swap file should
- have been bigger than it was?
-
- A related, PS/2 question is why does the PS/2 55SX limit me to
- less than 16mb and is there any way to bypass this?

- PS -- Norton 4.5 CI in an OS/2 DOS box with several other windows open
- on my machine is 12.5. The pure-DOS CI for my machine is (if I
- remember correctly) 15.1. That's not bad overhead at all, when
- you think about it (around 18%). I'd heard less than 10%, however.
