- I'm going to guess that you're getting garbage when you start up a DOS box.
- This is what I did to fix garbage problems I was getting when starting a
- WIN-OS/2 full screen session. This may or may not help you in some way.
-
- You essentially need a way to set a high resolution video mode when you
- enter a DOS box. Your VGA card may come with a VMODE utility that lets you
- do this. My ATI card doesn't have one, so I used VPIC to load a high
- resolution image in my AUTOEXEC.BAT. It works like this...
-
- 1) Make the last line of your AUTOEXEC.BAT something like this...
-
- vpic /a /r c:\vga\circuit.gif
-
- This loads and 800 x 600 image on screen and then leaves it there upon
- exiting.
-
- 2) Make sure you've done SVGA ON. If you haven't done it, do it right
- after entering this DOS box. Exit, then shutdown.
-
- Whenever I start a full screen WIN-OS/2 session at 800 x 600, I no longer
- getting video garbage problems on start up or when switching between
- sessions. This is a really strange fix, but it works.
-
- Ideally, I would guess that OS/2 needs a DOS setting to lock a DOS box into
- a particular video mode.
