- Hi. I download some fonts, and I tried printing one out at a
- LARGE point size. my system crashed.
-
- Since then, every time i boot up, I get a message (from my Phoenix BIOS, I pres
- ume) saying "Fixed disk read failure - Press F1 to retry boot, F2 for
- setup utility."
-
- F2 goes to my CMOS setup screen. Everything looks fine.
- F1 jumps right to the Boot Manager, as if nothing was wrong. From there,
- i can boot OS/2 or DOS just fine.
-
- I called IBM and they told to delete the boot partition, and contruct another
- one. I did this, but it did not help.
-
- What could it be that screws things up? When I boot up, it activates my
- A: drive, then my B: drive, and then when it access my hard drive it gives
- that error. Seeing as OS/2 does boot up fine, I think it has nothing to do with
- OS/2 per se.
-
- Any suggestions? It looks like I could do fine like this as far as working
- on my computer goes, but very bothersome. I'd hate to have to low-level
- format or something and lose all the time invested in my system.
-
- Thanks a lot for any help you can give-
- .
