  12. I have been trying for the past month to get my COM3 port to work using
  13. IRQ5.  I have configured my I/O board for COM3,IRQ5,port 3E8.  I also 
  14. have the following lines in my CONFIG.SYS file:

  16. DEVICE=C:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS SERIAL=COM1 
  17. DEVICE=C:\OS2\COM.SYS (3,3E8,05,p)
  18. DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCOM.SYS

  20. I'm using the latest kernel patch and COM2210 drivers..
  21.  
  22. Before installing the COM2210 drivers, OS/2 never saw COM3, no matter
  23. what I did.  The COM.SYS parameters (as per the FAQ) didn't help. 
  24. "touching" the port didn't help.  Telix would see the port, but would
  25. loose characters even during initialization.

  27. With the COM2210 drivers, OS/2 sees COM3, I think.. using MODE, I
  28. can do a "mode com3" at any prompt, and it tells me all kinds of
  29. neat info about it.. but accessing the port with Telix (DOS) or
  30. PMComm (OS/2) results in the session hanging while the application
  31. tries to initialize.. (the modem ready light is light, but I can't send
  32. characters to the port).

  34. The comm program that came with OS/2 2.0 (PM Terminal)responds by saying
  35. that the port (COM3) is not available..
  36.  
  37. I have checked to make sure that nothing else is using the COM3 address
  38. or IRQ5.. My computer has COM1 and COM2 build into the motherboard, and
  39. COM3 is on a multi I/O card.  COM4 and LPT2 (both on I/O card) are 
  40. both disabled until I get COM3 working.  LPT1 is also on the motherboard.

  42. I'd appreciate any input on this.  I do know this can be done.. I just can't
  43. figure out why it isn't working.

  46. 386DX/16, 8MB RAM, Paradise Professional (running standard VGA),
  47. 210MB IDE drive, Everex I/O card (2S, 1P) with COM3 at 3E8,IRQ5
