- Well, DTR is data terminal ready, and is used for the DTE (the computer) to
- notify the DCE (modem) that is can send information. If softerm is checking
- anything, odds are that it is looking for CTS (clear to send) which is enabled
- by the DCE to signal the DTE to go ahead. If you don't have DTR wired, you
- probably don't have CTS wired either.
-
- You should be able to disable CTS checking with OCTS=OFF.

-
- Well, the problem is you can't set CD checking with the MODE command. It
- always turns it off, so OS/2 shouldn't carry whether the carrier signal is
- high or not.
-
- Note that even if you turn all possible settings off that deal with signals
- from the modem (make sure that XON,IDSR,ODSR and OCTS are all off), it
- doesn't guarantee that it'll solve your problem. If softerm is querying the
- modem signals itself, I believe it will still see that there is no CTS (or
- CD or whatever it looks for). In that event, the only real solution is to
- fix the cable (even if you don't tie the signals to the modem - for example,
- loop RTS and CTS on the computer side).
