  21. First let me say that I agree with you, that IBM's OS/2 2.0 should
  22. support Hercules.  LAN servers, for example, don't really need color
  23. monitors.

  25. However, in my original reply I did point out that the remedy is as
  26. little as $25 away, which is not likely to break anyone's bank
  27. account.

  29. Also, I disagree with your assertion.  Most games, including those
  30. from the major players, do not support Hercules (increasingly VGA is
  31. the minimum, never mind CGA or EGA).  Windows NT probably will not
  32. support Hercules (it certainly isn't on the SDK compatibility list).
  33. A number of mainstream applications from major vendors do not support
  34. Hercules.

  36. How do I know?  Because up until about 18 months ago I was using
  37. Hercules, and it was limiting.  Lots of programs I wanted to run
  38. didn't.  Oh, Windows does support Hercules, but rather clumsily.  One
  39. has to use EGA screen fonts, and the results are often less than
  40. satisfactory.  I ran it, but I wasn't thrilled with it.  Icons look
  41. stretched out; letters look squished.
