- I am have problems running most of my VGA DOS applications in Windows 3.1
- using 386 enhanced mode. All of the apps run fine full-screen, but when
- I try to run them in separate windows I get an error message stating that
- the applications can not run in the background or in a window. I saw this
- all the time using Windows 3.0, but I thought that Windows 3.1 was supposed
- to allow graphical DOS applications to run in windows on the desktop. The
- weird thing is, when I use the standard video driver that came with Windows
- 3.1,
- the applications DO run successfully in windows, but with the colors all
- messed up (the driver is 16-color but the apps are 256-color).
-
- Is this problem directly related to the video driver? I have a Compudyne
- 1024
- VGA card, which I believe is actually made by STB. I've tried the new STB
- video drivers for 3.1, but they give the same error. If any of you STB
- video
- card users have any clue what is happening, I'd appreciate any help.
