- Hi,
- About six months ago I upgraded to DOS 5, all worked fine until
- a couple of months ago. There was I debugging my final year University
- project when I started to have problems. Every now and again, when I
- ran my program, it would crash, leaving several files open and corrupt.
- Only being a poor student I could not afford such luxuries as Norton Utils
- etc, so I used good old CHKDSK -f to clear up the mess. This worked fine
- for several weeks until on day CHKDSK decided to "fix" my IO.SYS file. UGH!
- I am now unable to boot from my hard disk. I can however still access it
- by booting from diskette. This is not ideal!
-
- Does anyone out there know how I can restore my copy of IO.SYS other than
- FORMAT C: /S. I have tried the obviouse.
-
- Thanks,
-
- Andy.
