- I tried out the minix demo disk and at some point unmounted the floppy
- that had all the commands in it. So I could not issue any commands.
- So I rebooted with control-alt-delete. Then I tried to use PCPLUS to
- log into a mainframe and noticed that my keystrokes were not echoing
- to the screen. I had to do a hard reboot by turning the machine off
- and then it went away.
-
- Later I tried to read a dvi file in MSDOS using dvivga and found that
- it would not obey the arrow keys, the pagedn and pageup keys, etc.
- In some cases, the machine hung when I tried to exit dvivga.
-
- I don't know if this is related to having screwed up with minix or not.
-
- I had this problem with the previewer before, when I installed ansi.sys
- in order to be able to use demacs. It turned out that ansi.sys was
- incompatible with dvivga. But then I found that I had a file named
- tansi.sys (Trident ANSI.SYS) and if I used that instead, I could use
- demacs as well as dvivga. So I don't understand why the problem is
- recurring.
-
- Has anyone else ever had after effects like this? I would like to rule this
- out as a source of the problem.
