- I got X to (sorta) run!
-
- This morning I unpacked xbase1.1.T.Z from tsx-11 and installed it. After
- overcomming a few small problems with Xconfig (thanks for that tip on the
- startx >x11.out 2>&1) I managed to get X to run. However, it's all out
- of sync. I can see the mouse cursor, I can position the xterm, I can even
- execute commands in it. But the desktop takes up only about 3/4 of my
- screen (centered, of course) and is very much out of sync. The colors even
- "fade in and out" in a nice cycle (pretty, but not very useable :-)
-
- I assume it has to do with either (or both of) a) the clocks settings or
- b) the sync stuff for the monitor. Since I did get X "up", does this mean
- it will work with my card?? In reading the vga.tutorial, they mention the
- clocks.exe program. Where in the world can I get my hands on this? Do
- you have any ideas where I should (can) go from here.
-
- I'm excited (and I think close!) Maybe ... just maybe ... I might get X
- running after all!
-
- Your help is appreciated!!
