  20. Let's see if we can get this back on the right track.  I'm trying to
  21. echo the concerns I hear from other members about "why" people can't
  22. go to Symposium.  I realize it's a complex issue.

  24. I would like to think that people would be willing to exchange a
  25. reasonable decrease in price for a longer lag time on the bus and
  26. reduced (not eliminated) meal service.

  28. Opinion: It seems to me that in Atlanta we already brush up
  29. against the 15 minute limit during rush hour.

  31. I can't speak for function space, my guess is that the limiting factor 
  32. is the big rooms.  And those do fill up during the Symposium.  So I
  33. doubt a cut there would be useful.

  35. I heard the Symposium Committee polled attendees about this a while ago,
  36. what was the results of the poll ?

  39. = expensive. I have been attending on my own $$ lately, sharing a 2-brm
  40. = suite with 3 other peoploe typically drops you into the $30/nite range

  43. I agree.  At Atlanta, I had three in my hotel room.  It worked out 
  44. pretty well.  Perhaps, I'll do something similar for Las Vegas.

  46. Finding housing bargains is a lot easier if they are suggested
  47. by official publications, or you have some DECUS experience.
  48. If you are a newcomer, you  are likely to use the housing bureau
  49. (pricey) since it's the limit of the housing information available.

  51. A minus of some housing bargains is that you may end up off
  52. the bus routes.  This can be an annoyance in some cities.
