- A new user of our system (several DECstations, all NFS mounting a
- common /usr/spool/mail directory for incoming mail) wanted to use
- ELM for handling his mail. I got it (2.3, PL11) and ran the Configure
- script (shades of perl!), and installed it. It correctly reads
- from the spool directory mailbox, and can save/print etc., BUT it
- does not work "the same way" as he is accustomed to. Specifically,
- when new mail is displayed there is no N marking the mail in the header,
- (to signify unread mail), when one quits ELM there is no prompting
- to save mail elsewhere (despite him using the same .elm/elmrc file
- as before).
-
- The setup is usable, but not friendly. Is this a NFS/lock type problem?
- (By the way, elm is running setgid. I can send you our config file
- if it would help.)
-
- Replies by email please, if not of general interest.
