- In 1986 (the most recent year for which I have statistics handy),
- 42,195 people received CS bachelor degrees in the United States. The
- number has gone up every year since 1976 (the first listed in the
- table), when 5,664 degrees were awarded. Presumably, this includes
- related majors.

- This information is from the 1990 NSF report, _Women and Minorities in
- Science and Engineering_. (Answers to questions you didn't ask are
- 36% went to women, and the average salary of someone going into
- industry with a BSCS was $28000.)
