  19. In 1986 (the most recent year for which I have statistics handy),
  20. 42,195 people received CS bachelor degrees in the United States.  The
  21. number has gone up every year since 1976 (the first listed in the
  22. table), when 5,664 degrees were awarded.  Presumably, this includes
  23. related majors.

  25. This information is from the 1990 NSF report, _Women and Minorities in
  26. Science and Engineering_.  (Answers to questions you didn't ask are
  27. 36% went to women, and the average salary of someone going into
  28. industry with a BSCS was $28000.)

  31. a whopping $1,181,460,000.
