- I recently bought a 14.4k boca modem. It works very well
- (although there seem to be a couple of modems in the local
- server pool which it can't talk to). The one problem I'm
- having is the tersely-written, incomplete manual.
-
- For instance, under "AT Commands for MNP operation," there's
- "AT\En: Optimize Echo cancellation. This is a one-time-only
- command which can be used to optimize the local echo." Fine
- and good, but what is it to optimize the local echo, and what
- is an appropriate n parameter?
-
- The real sticking point is that there are three profiles
- available to me -- the active, and two 'selectable' profiles.
- However, there are no instructions at all concerning how to
- select them on the fly, and there are no instructions on how
- to alter either of them. The comedy in this is that the
- selectable profiles are exactly the same.
-
- I tried calling Boca's BBS, but the phone rang 20 times. I
- then examined the free compuserve offer, but I have various
- convictions about the intelligence of posting my checking
- account information across phone lines to a massive company
- just so I can get a few minutes of 'free' conversation with
- someone who knows something about modems.
-
- If anyone could help me out here, I'd be much obliged.
