  13. I recently bought a 14.4k boca modem.  It works very well
  14. (although there seem to be a couple of modems in the local
  15. server pool which it can't talk to).  The one problem I'm
  16. having is the tersely-written, incomplete manual.

  18. For instance, under "AT Commands for MNP operation," there's
  19. "AT\En: Optimize Echo cancellation.  This is a one-time-only
  20. command which can be used to optimize the local echo."  Fine
  21. and good, but what is it to optimize the local echo, and what
  22. is an appropriate n parameter?

  24. The real sticking point is that there are three profiles
  25. available to me -- the active, and two 'selectable' profiles.
  26. However, there are no instructions at all concerning how to
  27. select them on the fly, and there are no instructions on how
  28. to alter either of them.  The comedy in this is that the
  29. selectable profiles are exactly the same.

  31. I tried calling Boca's BBS, but the phone rang 20 times.  I
  32. then examined the free compuserve offer, but I have various
  33. convictions about the intelligence of posting my checking
  34. account information across phone lines to a massive company
  35. just so I can get a few minutes of 'free' conversation with
  36. someone who knows something about modems.
