- They can disclaim all they want, yet folks will stil get the *test*
- firmware and flame on the net about why it won't connect to a brand X
- modem. I've seen this happen before. If you call the BBS, you can
- get the latest "released" ROM images. For free.
-
- I have done software beta testing before, and found that I had to put
- expiration date checks in my software. Invariably, the beta-test
- software gets loose, and causes grief and problems for people that
- "find" it for years after the testing has been concluded and the
- production software has been released.

-
- Oh, please. I suspect that the vast majority of people that get the
- modem firmware and burn their own ROMs spend the few dollars to call
- the 01 BBS at +1-714-693-0762. If you can afford to buy an EPROM
- programmer and extra ROMs call the silly BBS and get it right from
- the source.
-
- I have found that the FTP sites usually have older versions of
- firmware on them, and that's even when you could convince the silly
- Apollo host to do a binary FTP transfer without corrupting the file.
-
- 01 / ZyXEL is doing a wonderful thing by making the ROM images
- available for free. Even more so now that they seem to be
- particpating in this newsgroup. Don't reward them by whining at them.
- If you feel that you need access to the beta-test images, call the BBS
- and leave a message explaining *why* you do and perhaps they will give
- you access to them. That's what I did.
