  13. I understand that the Hayes Ultra 96 is the only unit on the market that has  
  14. X25 PAD, the sort of error checking usually found at the packet. By using this  
  15. feature, a friend told me that I can save a lot of money when I dial up from  
  16. France, since one normally must rent a Transpac connection from the govt. By  
  17. having X25 PAD in the modem, it seems that I can connect at one layer "deeper."

  19. Anyhow, I'd like to verify and clarify this info, and also find out what a good  
  20. street price might be for the Hayes Ultra 96. I saw $635 today in a Bay Area  
  21. computer rag.
