- I understand that the Hayes Ultra 96 is the only unit on the market that has
- X25 PAD, the sort of error checking usually found at the packet. By using this
- feature, a friend told me that I can save a lot of money when I dial up from
- France, since one normally must rent a Transpac connection from the govt. By
- having X25 PAD in the modem, it seems that I can connect at one layer "deeper."
-
- Anyhow, I'd like to verify and clarify this info, and also find out what a good
- street price might be for the Hayes Ultra 96. I saw $635 today in a Bay Area
- computer rag.
-
- Any info would be greatly appreciated, and I can summarize and post if
- appropriate.
