- I have a Smart One 2400 baud send/receive fax modem.
- The Quick Link software that comes with it acts like a front-end
- for the MNP5 and V.42 bis. When logged into my account through a
- 9600 baud university modem, I get 2750 baud (10 bits per byte) when
- using Y modem to receive gif's. When using Procomm (1 or 2 year old version)
- I get maybe 2100 baud (procomm can't do MNP 5 or V.42bis on my modem).
-
- When it comes to text (like using vi or reading news), the MNP5/V.42bis
- really does make the data fly.
- At $70 (US), this is not a bad price for what is essentially a turbo-
- charged 2400 baud fax modem. (The fax part works great too!).
