- 1) Are there any good technical books on telephone local loop characteristics?
-
- 2) Is there anything that describes the various levels of service (leased
- line, 3002, Type C conditioned, and so forth ) that are typically available?
-
- 3) Anticipating (1), I have seen some numbers for inductance, capacitance, and
- resistance per mile of #26 copper pair. Doing some calculations, it looks
- like one can shove 100Kbps, half duplex, through a 5 mile twisted pair
- (50V P-P in, 50mV P-P out, into a 100 ohm impedance). I am told I can get
- such a hard line installed to another site off the same switching office.
- Are there special modems that can drive such a line? Where do you look for
- them?
