-
- let's analyze this: user has HST, wants v.32bis--or even better, both.
-
- Scenario 1: he can upgrade his HST straight from USR (through their upgrade
- program) to a Dual Standard (new small footprint model, includes fax,
- supposedly upgradeable to v.fast for $295) for a total of $350.
-
- Scenario 2: he can sell his HST for $300-$350, and buy a Dual Standard. Last
- I checked, prices for DS were hovering in the $750-$800 range street. Best
- case: he sells for $350, and buys for $750. Net cost to upgrade to Dual
- Standard this way: $400.
-
- Let's assume some slop in the above prices, and say his net upgrade price in
- Scenario 2 turns out to be the same $350 as if he just went straight to USR.
- I still think that Scenario 2 ends up costing more, if nothing else in time
- and trouble to look for a buyer, arrange a price and terms, finding a vendor
- for the Dual Standard, and so on. Scenario 1 turns out to be easier and
- cheaper in the long run. A simple swap with a reputable company, and no more
- money changes hands than in the sell old/buy new situation.
-
- The original poster should definitely look into USR's upgrade program.
