  18. Yes and no. No, because the standard isn't even DRAFTED yet, much 
  19. less adopted.  CCITT is still at the stage of collecting proposals 
  20. on what the modulation scheme and other characteristics of the modem 
  21. should be.  But "Yes", because some of the companies that are MAKING 
  22. those proposals have started to ship modems which include their 
  23. proposals.  These are NOT standard "V.fast" modems, but generally 
  24. are V.32bis modems which have proprietary, non-standard, 
  25. higher-speed modes.

  30. There is consensus that the top speed will be at least 24,000 bps, 
  31. and it may be 28,800 (with a 26,400 intermediate speed) if actual

  33. be demonstrated.
