- I don't know noting about modems in France.
- In Germany one couldn't buy an "approved" modem doing Hayes AT commands
- until a few years ago. But this restriction is gone. ( fortunately )
- All approved modems I know of do have V.25bis in addition to Hayes.
-
- About the "forbidden" list. It is not really a "forbidden" list, but rather
- a "dead" list. If a connection fails a certain number of times
- ( 12 with my Racal-Datacom ) in sequence, it is considerated "dead".
-
- Unforunately even a busy line counts as failed. If you set your UUCICO
- to redial your feed every 10 minutes if it's busy and it does not succeed
- within 2 hours it will go to the the "dead" list.
- Annoying isn't it :-(
-
- The modem refuses to call a "dead" number until you cycle power.
- So, you don't have to get a new eprom, but you better check your system
- at least every other day to make sure that none of your feeds went to
- the "dead" list.
-
- SSSSSSS SQUAREDANCERS do it in groups of EIGHT.
