  19.     Thirteenth Annual ASME International Computers in Engineering Conference

  22. The  purpose  of  the  engineering  database symposium  is  twofold:  to
  23. publicize recent industry and business successes in implementing 
  24. engineering data management strategies for product conceptualization,
  25. design, development and support, and to present advances in research
  26. relevant to product engineering that are vital to survival in the 
  27. competitive global market environment.

  29. Papers are solicited in the general area  of engineering data management.
  30. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
  31.  
  32. - Engineering database implementation experiences
  33. - CALS initiative and industrial enterprise integration programs
  34. - Implementation of STEP/PDES and other product data exchange standards
  35. - Integration frameworks and application interfaces
  36. - Evaluation of vendor database products
  37. - Database support for concurrent engineering
  38. - Engineering applications of object oriented database technologies
  39. - Engineering product and data modeling
  40. - Engineering database performance, integrity and security
  41. - Engineering document storage systems
  42. - Hypertext and hypermedia support for engineering information system
  43. - Management of legacy data
  44.  
  45. All papers will be given a thorough peer review. Accepted papers will be
  46. published in a separate bound symposium proceedings. Papers which
  47. are deemed to have lasting or archival quality will be forwarded to 
  48. Engineering with Computers, an International Journal for Computer Aided
  49. Mechanical and Structural Engineering, for potential publication.
