- The purpose of the engineering database symposium is twofold: to
- publicize recent industry and business successes in implementing
- engineering data management strategies for product conceptualization,
- design, development and support, and to present advances in research
- relevant to product engineering that are vital to survival in the
- competitive global market environment.

- Papers are solicited in the general area of engineering data management.
- Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

- - Engineering database implementation experiences
- - CALS initiative and industrial enterprise integration programs
- - Implementation of STEP/PDES and other product data exchange standards
- - Integration frameworks and application interfaces
- - Evaluation of vendor database products
- - Database support for concurrent engineering
- - Engineering applications of object oriented database technologies
- - Engineering product and data modeling
- - Engineering database performance, integrity and security
- - Engineering document storage systems
- - Hypertext and hypermedia support for engineering information system
- - Management of legacy data

- All papers will be given a thorough peer review. Accepted papers will be
- published in a separate bound symposium proceedings. Papers which
- are deemed to have lasting or archival quality will be forwarded to
- Engineering with Computers, an International Journal for Computer Aided
- Mechanical and Structural Engineering, for potential publication.
