- Hi there netters,
-
- I work for a financial institution (Colonial Mutual Life Assurance/Colonial
- Mutual Investment Management) in Melbourne, Aust and am interested in
- contacting other financial institutions that use relational databases. By
- financial intuitions, I mean banks, insurance companies and investment
- houses.
-
- There are really two reasons for this posting, the 1st is a request by my
- company to enquire about what other financial institutions are using in
- their company. The second reason, which is what I am interested in is to
- contact any investment houses out there that use RDBMS.
-
- We are in the process of moving away from network databases to relational and
- would like to know what everyone else is doing, the problem they have had, the
- software they are using etc.
-
- The following are some of the questions I have. I would appreciate any
- response you may have emailed directly to me. If you are not a financial
- institutions but know of other that use RDBMS, that information would be
- useful.
-
-
- 1. What is your company's name and where are you based?
- 2. What line of business is your company in?
- 3. How big are they?
- 4. Where are you based?
- 5. How big is you information technology division and the area you are in?
- 6. What type of RDBMS do you use?
- 7. What type of applications are they used for?
- 8. Are they written in-house or third-party?
- 9. How long have your company been using the RDBMS?
- 10. What are you hardware configuration:
- - networking architecture and protocol used
- - number of Workstations/PC's
- - type of servers/mainframes and Op/sys
- 11. Do you have gateways between different Op/systems and databases?
- 12. Experiences with the RDBMS you use?
-
-
- I hope I am not asking too many questions? If you feel that any of the
- questions are confidential, please do not answer them.
-
- regards
- tony
