  20. The SEI has drafted a revised version of the Capability Maturity Model (v1.01)
  21. based on change requests and CMM Workshop feedback.  The CMM drafts are
  22. available by anonymous ftp if you would like to review these drafts and
  23. tell us whether we have adequately addressed your concerns.  (Most of them
  24. anyway, there are a couple that will probably be put out on Monday.)

  26. This comment period will last until 11 September 1992.  We would like to have
  27. the comments in before the SEI Software Engineering Symposium.  Send your
  28. comments by e-mail to mcp@sei.cmu.edu or fax them to 412-268-5758.

  31. This is an opportunity for informal discussion; we do not plan to track the 
  32. comments formally or even acknowledge their receipt.  We would just like to 
  33. solicit your opinion on whether we have adequately addressed the issues raised
  34. during the commenting period.

  45. The instructions for obtaining the CMM V1.1 files are contained in READ.ME in 
  46. pub/cmm/v1.1.

  48. After CMM V1.01 is complete, we plan to do some pilot testing to check for any 
  49. continuing clarity issues.  The CMM Advisory Board will review CMM V1.01, 
  50. using comments from the CMM Correspondence Group reviewers and pilot test 
  51. feedback.  With their assistance, we will address any refinement and 
  52. integration issues and create CMM V1.02, which will go through our formal 
  53. approval process (internally, by our CMM Configuration Control Board and 
  54. Information Management group; externally, by the SEI Joint Program Office).  
  55. The approved version, with any necessary changes to CMM V1.02, will be 
  56. released as CMM V1.1 at the end of the year.

  58. Please note that the last items going into the review process will be the 
  59. glossary and the TR-25 Overview.  They will be reviewed later since they are 
  60. critically dependent on how issues are resolved in the key process areas.  
  61. They will probably be distributed near the end of September.

  63. Comments thus far have ranged from "don't change it" to "I actually prefer 
  64. the old version" (both in regard to the CMM v1.01 draft goals).  We will 
  65. continue to refine our revision effort based on the needs of the software 
  66. community; your comments can have a significant impact on how we proceed.
