- The SEI has drafted a revised version of the Capability Maturity Model (v1.01)
- based on change requests and CMM Workshop feedback. The CMM drafts are
- available by anonymous ftp if you would like to review these drafts and
- tell us whether we have adequately addressed your concerns. (Most of them
- anyway, there are a couple that will probably be put out on Monday.)
-
- This comment period will last until 11 September 1992. We would like to have
- the comments in before the SEI Software Engineering Symposium. Send your
- comments by e-mail to mcp@sei.cmu.edu or fax them to 412-268-5758.
-
- Please note that this is not an opportunity for offering new change requests.
- This is an opportunity for informal discussion; we do not plan to track the
- comments formally or even acknowledge their receipt. We would just like to
- solicit your opinion on whether we have adequately addressed the issues raised
- during the commenting period.
-
- To use anonymous ftp:
-
- ftp ftp.sei.cmu.edu
- login: anonymous
- password: <your user id or any string>
- cd pub/cmm/v1.1
- get <files>
- quit
-
- The instructions for obtaining the CMM V1.1 files are contained in READ.ME in
- pub/cmm/v1.1.
-
- After CMM V1.01 is complete, we plan to do some pilot testing to check for any
- continuing clarity issues. The CMM Advisory Board will review CMM V1.01,
- using comments from the CMM Correspondence Group reviewers and pilot test
- feedback. With their assistance, we will address any refinement and
- integration issues and create CMM V1.02, which will go through our formal
- approval process (internally, by our CMM Configuration Control Board and
- Information Management group; externally, by the SEI Joint Program Office).
- The approved version, with any necessary changes to CMM V1.02, will be
- released as CMM V1.1 at the end of the year.
-
- Please note that the last items going into the review process will be the
- glossary and the TR-25 Overview. They will be reviewed later since they are
- critically dependent on how issues are resolved in the key process areas.
- They will probably be distributed near the end of September.
-
- Comments thus far have ranged from "don't change it" to "I actually prefer
- the old version" (both in regard to the CMM v1.01 draft goals). We will
- continue to refine our revision effort based on the needs of the software
- community; your comments can have a significant impact on how we proceed.
