- Had the same problem and found the same basic solution as Lee Komito: use
- the normal NB define keys to mark out what Orbis has found for you and
- transfer it to the alt-F10 window. However, I still have this problem:
- after the operation, the working file (the one I bring stuff into) behaves
- strangely. A few times it simply disappeared, other times it wouldn't let
- me save it -- which is just as bad, or worse, in the long run. A few times
- all went as it should, though. Anybody else have this problem? I tried
- this only while NB was running in a Desqview window -- so that might be
- problem, but on the other hand I'm not eager to give up DV.
-
- Another problem with Orbis: I tried out four of the predefined formats for
- TB structure. Only one came through, the one with a blank line as an entry
- marker. The one with <<PR.B>> and <<PR.E>> and <<PR.K>> for designated
- keywords just gave an "internal error" message with a number (9020?,
- 4020?). The same without <<PR.K>> and the one with <<PG>> as entry marker
- went swiftly about indexing but I wasn't that happy when it turned out that
- it had marked the whole 50 K test file to be just one entry! And the
- markers were there, at least so said my eyes and the old Text Base. These
- results were the same within and without DesqView. Has anybody found any
- of the formats with designated keywords actually working?
-
- How about the idea that you could more easily make changes into an Orbis
- text base than you could in the old system? I did not find any obvious way
- of doing this. Actually I had hoped that Orbis would let me make changes
- in an entry as soon as it retrieved it for me (as SquareNote does), but
- that does not seem to be case. Is it just that it is a bit faster in
- indexing plus that it maybe keeps track of the files that have changed?
- Does anybody know & care to answer about these problems?

- PS. Still another problem: Orbis indexes vowels with accents without
- 'normalizing' them into their accent-less equivalents as the
- old Text BAse does. That would be most welcome for a person
- who most of the time uses languages which make the difference, too.
- If I only knew how to retrieve those entries. But the Orbis
- search window does not allow me to enter any letters but the
- standard English/American set -- compared to that it is a small
- problem that Orbis seems not to be able to treat lowercase and
- uppercase of those letters the same (which NB4 now can, bravo
- for that!).
