We went to a session manager and a menu system several years ago and took
this opportunity to implement sign ons for every application.  Sign on is
a wonderfull thing which auditors and security people love.  I am not
either but also agree with sign on for everyone.

I suggest that you do some benchmarks on tcp/ip.  We did not implement the
first release of tcp/ip because of the cpu use.  We implemented the second
release of tcp/ip but the cpu use is measurable.  We will also carefully
benchmark the next release of tcp/ip we install.
